Governance
Prosper Together Multi Academy Trust consists of three layers of governance: Members, Trustees and Local Governing Bodies.
Members
Academy trusts are founded by members who have a general duty to exercise their powers, to further the academy trust’s charitable purpose. They are the guardians of governance within multi academy trusts. Whilst they have no direct role in running the Trust, a key responsibility is to hold the Trust Board to account. Their responsibilities include the appointment/ removal of trustees and consideration of the Trustees’ performance in carrying out their three core governance functions.
Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the Governing Body for the organisation and is accountable in law for the exercise of its functions. It is the accountable body for the performance of all academy schools within the Trust and has three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of the vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- Holding the Executive Leaders to account for the educational performance of the Trust schools and its pupils and the effective and efficient performance management of staff.
- Overseeing the financial performance of the Trust and making sure that its money is well spent.
Trustees are both company directors and charity trustees. The Trust board meets at least termly and has committees and an Executive Leadership Team to which it can delegate decision-making powers, as set out in the Scheme of Delegation.

Local Governing Bodies
Prosper Together Multi Academy Trust recognises the importance of local governance in schools, ensuring that school stakeholders have an active role in the management of their school. The Trust therefore delegates certain responsibilities to a Local Governing Body at each school. The Local Governing body forms the bridge between the trust board and the schools and is integral to the Trust’s governance structure.
